McGill University Life Science Complex Containment Level 3 Platform
A state-of-the-art platform for research using infectious human pathogens
Located at the McGill University Life Sciences Complex, the Containment Level 3 Platform is one of the innovative platforms of the School of Biomedical Sciences. The CL3 Platform is available to McGill researchers, affiliated collaborators and external researchers from the academic and private sectors on a fee-for-service basis.
Mission
The mission of this leading-edge facility is to foster interdisciplinary and collaborative research, share knowledge and tools, and contribute to the training of the next generation of highly-qualified health researchers handling pathogens of concerns for public health.
Activities and services
The McGill University Life Science Complex Containment Level 3 suite occupies 1,000 sq feet and consists of four adjacent rooms meeting the highest safety standards defined by the Canadian Biosafety Standards and Guidelines (PHAC and CFIA).
Certification for work with M. Tuberculosis and SARS CoV-2 was received in 2018 and 2020, respectively.
The CL3 facility manager oversees essential training, provides guidance to researchers, monitors experiments, and ensures strict adherence to standard operating procedures.
