The McGill Research Centre on Complex Traits
The McGill University Research Centre on Complex Traits is a multidisciplinary research and education centre of excellence dedicated to identifying the genetic and molecular underpinnings of infectious, inflammatory, and immunity-related diseases.
Our vision
The MRCCT provides researchers with emerging technologies, datasets, and experimental models of disease to conduct studies at the intersection of genomics, molecular pathophysiology, and immunology.
Here, multidisciplinary teams contribute to exciting new discoveries in host-pathogen interactions, share new technologies, and spur on innovative thinking and productivity at lab meetings, seminar series, and retreats.
Our Mission
Translate
basic science findings into bench-to-bedside collaborations between clinicians, clinician scientists, the pharmaceutical sector, and communities.
Train
a new generation of scientists with multidisciplinary expertise in genetics, genomics, immunology, cell biology, biochemistry, and bioinformatics.
Provide
innovative research platforms that harness emerging genomic data to discover the molecular pathophysiology of infectious and inflammatory diseases.
About Us
The MRCCT brings together international, national, and local researchers whose interests in disease range from genetic susceptibility to molecular mechanisms, to clinical treatments.
The MRCCT was founded in 2008 to support the development of new treatments and cures for chronic inflammatory conditions and infectious diseases that threaten global populations.
Since then, health emergencies such as the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic have highlighted how much we need to learn about the complex interactions between hosts, pathogens, and environments that contribute to health crises.
The MRCCT produces new insights into these interactions by providing researchers with expertise in genetic susceptibility, molecular mechanisms and clinical treatments with advanced technologies and opportunities for collaboration.
MRCCT publications and events show that we have an essential and exciting part to play in advancing promising cures, treatments and, ultimately, in reducing the impact of chronic diseases and future pandemics
